When the World Needs a Hearing Aid

When someone can only hear certain frequencies, it causes hearing loss.

As a metaphor, our world is experiencing this daily, but in our case, it’s by choice.

I understand hearing loss now in more ways than one. With age, I’ve learned what it means to miss sounds I once took for granted; the subtle tones, the softer voices, the small things that give life its meaning.

It made me realize the world is suffering from a deeper kind of hearing loss; not in the ear, but in the soul. Many only hear what they want to hear and the reasons are often obvious while the quieter voices of truth, reason, and love go unheard.

What the world needs is a common hearing aid, one that filters out the lies so many believe about themselves. One tuned to honesty, reason, compassion, and truth that doesn’t shift with politics, popularity, or profit. The sound of Heaven above - full of mercy, grace, and love.

Until then, the shouting will continue and very few will actually hear.

But wait, there is hope. We already have a common hearing aid, if only we can hear His message.

There are many well-meaning Christians, followers of Christ, whatever label born-again believers in Jesus choose, who speak with passion and conviction, yet their words aren’t in alignment with what God has said or is saying now.

It isn’t about being controversial; it’s most often a lack of knowledge combined with a lack of understanding.

They don’t know what they don’t know. They’re tuned to familiar frequencies; emotion, logic, or culture, instead of the voice of the Holy Spirit.

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

Revelation 2:7 (NKJV)

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”

John 10:27 (NKJV)
